Claude Benjamin Hartsock

Dungannon, VA ~ Claude Benjamin Hartsock, 84, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
    He was a retired coal miner and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
    He was the son of the late Benjamin Fairbanks Hartsock and Martha Jane Hartsock; brother, Robert Dean Hartsock.
    He is survived by wife, Maxine Ring Hartsock, Dungannon, VA, three daughters, Karen Hartsock, Jackie L. Taylor and Robin L. Howington, all of Dungannon; two  sisters, Vendetta Jane Davis, and Mattie Beverly, both of Coeburn; one brother, Russell Hartsock; 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

   Visitation for Claude Benjamin Hartsock will be held on Thursday October 6, 2011 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M.  with Rev. Larry Beavers and Rev. Steve Collins officiating. The Family will meet Friday, October 7, 2011 at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. and proceed to the Ramsey Cemetery in Dungannon for burial. Coeburn VFW will preform military graveside rites. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.




Nellie Elkins
Nellie Elkins Tacoma, VA ~ Nellie Whited Elkins, 81, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia. She was born and raised in Tacoma and was a former employee of Cohen's Department Store in Norton, VA. She and her husband, Arvel owned and operated flower shops in Coeburn and St. Paul for many years. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Arvel Elkins,daughter, Martha Ann Brummett, parents, Roy and Ida Whited, and a sister, Mrs. John 'Dot' Graham and a brother, Elwood Whited. She is survived by two daughters, Pam Nixon, Tacoma and Sherri Ann Meade, Coeburn; two sons-in-law, Crockett Nixon, Tacoma and Brian Meade, Coeburn; two sisters, Betty Poore, Glade Springs, and Maggie Campbell, Abingdon; grandchildren, Jessica Nixon, Haley Hale, Josh Kilgore, Erika Kilgore, Andrea Kilgore, Evan Meade and Tammy Graham, several special nieces, nephews an cousins, special friend, Francis Bates. Visitation for Nellie Elkins will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services at 7:00 PM with Rev. Mitchell Elliot officiating. The family will meet at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. on Monday and leave in procession to the Laurel Grove Cemetery for burial. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

  Mackenzie Shyann Beverly Mackenzie Shyann Beverly Coeburn, VA ~ Mackenzie Shyann Beverly, infant daughter of Crystal McCowan and Joshua David Beverly died, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia. She is preceeded in death by great-grandfather, Wade Lee Gibson. She is survived by her parents, Crystal McCowan, Coeburn and Joshua David Beverly, Wise; two aunts, Heather Hurd and Amanda Rose Spivey both of Coeburn; two grandfathers, Gene Todd and Larry Joe Hurd both of Coeburn; grandmother, Cynthia Todd, Coeburn; two great-aunts, Loraine Bond and Glenda Kay Hyden both of Coeburn; one great-grandmother, Helen Harvey, Coeburn; one great-uncle, Larry Franklin Bond, Coeburn; two uncles, Donald Wayne Hyden and Donald Ray Spivey both of Coeburn; several cousins, great aunts and uncles. Graveside servives and burial will be held Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Kilgore Cemetery in Coeburn, VA with Rev. Douglas Smith Officiating.

Oscar Lee Mutter
Oscar Lee Mutter Coeburn, VA ~ Oscar Lee Mutter, 75, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia. He was the son of the late John L. Mutter and Della Fogleman. Preceeded in death by his wife, Joyce Irene Mutter, daughter, Brenda Kay Mabe, two sisters, Alice Marie Dooley, and Minnie Pearl Bond. Survivors include three daughters, Nita Branham, Rosa Lee Osborne, and, Anna Lee Osborne, all of Coeburn; one son, David Mutter, and wife and special daughter-in-law, Sheila Mutter both of Coeburn; Several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several nices and nephews. Funeral services for Oscar Lee Mutter will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. in Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. R. L. Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Friday after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

Danny Louis Robinette
Danny Louis Robinette Coeburn, VA ~ Danny Louis Robinette, 63 our husband, dad, grand dad, brother, friend and God's child went to a better home, Thursday, October 13, 2011, our loss, his presence with the Lord. He died at home Thursday Morning. He loved to sing and fellowship with his friends and church family and he will be missed as a true withness of his Christian faith. Mr. Robinette is a retired employee of Clinchfield and Cumberland River Coal and attended Pine Camp Church of God of Prophecy. He was preceeded in death his parents, James Garvis Robinette and Leola Robinette; brothers, William Neil Robinette, Chester Robinette, Jim Robinette and Gary Robinette. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Counts Robinette, Coeburn; two daughters, Angela Robinette Rabon, Coeburn, and Jessica Leola Robinette, both of Coeburn; one son, Daniel Seth Robinette, Coeburn; two sisters, Carol R. Miller, Manassas, VA and Martha K. Snider, Front Royal, VA; grandchildren, Jonah, Carra, and Noah; several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Danny Louis Robinette will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Curtis Bond officiating. Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Monday October 17, 2011 at Edwards Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 AM and leave in procession. Bobbie Lee Donahue Coeburn, VA ~ Bobbie Lee Donahue,75 passed away Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia. He was the son of the late Everett and Lillie Stallard Donahue. Survivors include a sister, Violetta Poston, and husband, Ray, Defiance, OH; special friend, Gary Greear, Coeburn; 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Visitation for Bobbie Lee Donahue will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 after 5:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM with Rev. Leslie Ritchie officiating. Burial will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. The family will meet at the cemetery.   Gale Stanford Cox Coeburn, VA ~ Gale Stanford Cox , 81, passed away Monday, October 17, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport Tennessee. He was a retired employee of Norfolk & Western R.R. and was a U.S. Marine veteran of WW II. He was the son of the late Roy David and Mabel Cox; several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Billie Jo Cox, Coeburn; three sons, Nathan Cox, and wife, Tonya Lynn Cox, Abingdon, Douglas Cox, Coeburn, and Matthew Cox, and wife, Jennifer Cox, Bristol, TN; two brothers, David C. Cox, Abingdon, VA and Doug Cox, Bluefield, WV; One Cousin, John C. Bowman, Morristown, TN; three grandsons, Nathan Rivver Cox, William Brayden Cox and Parker Warren Cox; Several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Gale Stanford Cox, will be held Friday at 1:00 PM at the Friendship Baptist Church in Coeburn with Rev. Johnny Adkins and Rev. R.L. Crawford officiating.

Gilmer Lee 'Buddy' Horne Coeburn, VA ~ Gilmer Lee 'Buddy' Horne, 70 passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at his residence in Coeburn Virginia. He was the son of the late Ben F. Horne and Belvia Elizabeth Horne; also preceeded in death by a sister, Nancy Jean Salyers Lynthlin, and a brother, Vernard James Harvey. Survivors include three sisters, Shirley Mae Salyers, Marie Cole, and Helen Cole Couch, all of Coeburn; several special friends and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Gilmer Lee 'Buddy' Horne will be held on Sunday, October 23, after 6:00 P.M. 2011 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services at 7:00 PM with Rev. Joe Dearry officiating. Norton, VA ~ Carianna Lea LaMasters Meade, 43 passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia.
   She was the daughter of the late Lawrence Patrick LaMasters, Sr. and Retha Andeline LaMasters
   Survivors include her husband, David Anthony Meade, St. Paul, VA, one  daughter, Sarah Meade, St. Paul; one son, Mackie Tickles, Westminister, CO; one brother, Lawrence "Larry" Patrick LaMasters Jr., St. Paul; Several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Smith officiating.

Coeburn, VA ~ Urban Lee Bartley, 59 passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at Mountain View Medical Center in Norton Virginia after a 8 year long battle with Cancer.
   He was a former coal miner and worked for Halliburton Services of Norton before taking early retirement.
   He was the son of the late Oscar Urban Bartley and Eula Lee Bartley; a sister, Glenna Slemp and husband, Bill.
   Survivor by his wife, Sondra Hicks Bartley, Coeburn; one daughter, Amanda Bartley, Coeburn and fiancĂ©, Mike Reedy, Dante; a sister, Brenda Couk, and husband, Bill Couk, Dallas, TX; a brother, Morris Bartley and wife, Clara Bartley, Coeburn; granddaughter, Bethany Castle, Coeburn, Several nieces and nephews.
   Visitation for Urban Lee Bartley will be held on Monday October 31, 2011 after 6:00 P.M. at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. R. J. Rose officiating. Burial will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

Coeburn, VA ~ Patsy Middleton Bruner, 75 passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Norton Community Hospital in Norton Virginia.
    Patsy was from Harlan, KY, but had lived in Coeburn for the last 35 years.
    She was the daughter of the late Beckam Middleton and Eula Middleton; also preceeded in death by her husband, Bill Carrol Bruner and son, William Carol Bruner.
    Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Ann Bruner, Coeburn, and Selina Sue Hayes, and husband, Ricky Hayes, St.Paul; one sister, Linda Clark, Keith, KY; two brothers, Robert Middleton, Harlan, KY and Harvey Middleton, Jonesville, VA; grandchildren, Samantha Hayes and Brandon Castle, Ricky Hayes II and Stephanie Kline, Robyn Bruner and Hannah Russell; great grandchildren, Carys Castle, Chole Castle, Brady Hayes, Colton Kline and Maggie Hayes.

   Visitation for Patsy M. Bruner  will be held after 4:00 P.M. on Sunday October 30, 2011 at Estes Funeral Home Chapel and funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM  with Rev. Clifford Bevins officiating. Burial will be Noon Monday, October 31, 2011 at Greenwood Acres Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.

Coeburn, VA - Al'Frances Kennedy Rowlett, age 93, passed away Monday, Oct 31, 2011 in Bristol, VA.
   She was born on Caney Ridge in Dickenson County, near Coeburn, VA.
   She was the daughter of the late Estle E. and Crada Kennedy.
   Al'Frances was preceeded in death by her husband, Herbert G. Rowlett; siblings, K. Kipling Kennedy, O'Hara Kennedy, Mattie Jeanne Martin and Janis Wiggin and Estle Kennedy, Jr.
   Survivors include 2 sisters, Louise Kennedy Smith Kilgore and Sara Jane Kennedy; Brothers, Jon Forrest Kennedy, Kim Kennedy, Carol Kennedy, Randall Kennedy and Wade Kennedy; several special nieces and nephews; one dear sister-in-law, Leona Kennedy.
   Al'Frances was a graduate of Clintwood High School and attended Bluefield Business College in Bluefield, VA. After college she was employed by Piggly Wiggly offices and the First National Bank in Norton, VA. She taught a Sunday School Class at Rugsby Freewill Baptist Church on Caney Ridge and did substitute teaching in Dickenson Co. Schools.
   Al'Frances loved to travel and had many interests. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Historical Society of Southwest Virginia.
   We wish to thank the staff of Bristol Regional Medical Center for their excellent care of Mrs. Rowlett.
   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holston United Methodist Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greenville, TN 37744 and S.W.VA Historical Society, P.O. Box 3788, Wise, VA 24293 or charity of your choice.
   Visitation for Mrs. Rowlett will be Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Estes Funeral Home Chapel 11 AM till 2 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. John Markel officiating. Burial will follow in Rugsby Cemetery.
